ALESSIA ARCANGELI
Nota epigrafica ai frammenti magico-incantatori da Selinunte

This article re-examines two lead fragments, originally published by Giovanna Rocca among a group of Selinuntine inscriptions, which bear the ἐπῳδή that contains the Ephesia Grammata. Drawing on a fresh autopsy of the two pieces, it reconsiders both their physical relationship to one another and the reading of a pivotal passage. The discussion then situates the fragments within the textual tradition of the Ephesia Grammata, attending in particular to the mechanisms of textual variation and to the interaction between local ritual settings and the transmission of the incantatory formula in Classical Selinous. The reassessment of the epigraphic evidence proposed here also has wider implications for our understanding of the development and diffusion of this tradition.
